The New Influencer on the Block

Social Media marketing can be overwhelming. Figuring out which platforms to use, keeping up with the latest updates, and trying to find the best ways to gain more followers and views. What if there was a way to reach audiences that you are already paying for? Among the top forecasted social media tools in the upcoming year is engaging employees as influencers.

Even if you are a small business, at your fingertips are hundreds or thousands of new followers that could be reached through your employees. Employee advocacy is the opportunity to reach new audiences in a new way that could be more authentic, coming from people who actually know and work with your brand. Authenticity is key and advocacy shouldn’t be forced. In order for this to be successful, there are a few tips you should follow.

1.     Incentivize it. There has to be something on the table that makes it worth their time.

2.     Content should be relevant to your employees and their audiences, otherwise it will look contrived and artificial.

3.     It should be made simple to do, the more complicated it is the less likely that it will happen.

Avoid the aggravating algorithms, and go directly to the audience. That’s the beauty of influencers, only these influencers are already working in your office. Just think, there’s potential sitting in a cubicle waiting to be activated, what are you waiting for?
