How to Create Your Own Geofilter

Snapchat currently has over 300 million active users, ranking 11 out of the 22 most popular social media networks of 2017. Meaning your geofilter will not go unnoticed! Snapchat’s geofilters are not limited to sharing your location in a fancy font, they can be used for special occasions, or to promote your brand. Above all, geofilters are a great way to build relationships and connections with your audiences.

Follow the simple steps below to create a geofilter that will boost your brand awareness among many.

  1. First, you need to design your geofilter. This can be done many ways but is most successful when using Photoshop or Illustrator, you can find those templates here. If you aren’t savvy with the software, no worries, Snapchat offers their own templates that you can choose from here. You will be prompted to log in by step 4, so make sure you have an active account.

  2. If you choose to create your own design, you will be prompted to upload it.

  3. Upon uploading, Snapchat will take you through the remaining steps. You will choose the specific dates you would like to have your geofilter up, then you will be asked to select the parameters of the location where you would like your geofilter to show and how far it will reach.

  4. Lastly, you will enter your payment information. The cost varies based upon the length and distance you select for your filter. Snapchat will take at least 24 hours to review and approve and then your filter will go live for the time that you select.
