We were so honored to have John & Riley @GunnerAndLux, Arkeedah @ItsArkeedah, Megan @HungryGirlsDoItBetter, and Maggie @MaggieDox participate in our influencer panel and share their experienced knowledge with all of our guests.  If you haven’t already heard of them, definitely follow along on their Instagram adventures and blogging journey’s to get know them better!

One of the most valuable topics discussed was how social media influencers are able to monetize while maintaining an honest relationship with their followers.  While each of the panelists encompass different genre’s, they all shared one commonality when it comes to sponsored posts.  They’ve all turned some down.

While it may be tempting to accept any offer that will make you money, they explained that it’s also one of the easiest ways to weaken your voice and pollute the space you’ve created for yourself on social if not done tactfully.  There wasn’t exactly a “magic number” for sponsored posts allotted per month, rather a strategy of partnering with brands that align with your values.  The key is posting about products or services that you genuinely believe in or would use regardless of any resulting profit.

This leads to perhaps the biggest takeaway of the night.  Always stay true to yourself.  The backbone of any influencer’s brand is unique to each person, and staying true to the individuality of your own voice is what makes it natural and easy to stand out from the crowd.  It is vital to keep a consistent and honest voice as your building blocks and thread this throughout every single post to achieve success.

Lastly, their advice for aspiring influencers alike was to treat it like a business.  With a lot of hard work, dedication, and persistence, you can do it too!
