Day in the Life of an Imagineer

A lot of people have been asking lately, what’s a ‘typical’ day like at Imagine Media Consulting? I’ve come to the conclusion that working in this fast-paced world of digital agency work means there are no two days that look the same. Imagine Media is a mighty little team of 10, each with our own individual strengths and we make one stellar creative team. However, it is rare to see us all sitting down together in a given day. So what does a given day look like at Imagine Media? I’m here to give you a glimpse into what my day looks like, however while I’m writing a blog post there might be another Imagineer in the woods in Duluth chopping wood at a client photoshoot. There is one thing that’s for sure - there are no boring days here!

On this day, I’ll pretend like traffic was on my side. Arriving at work right before 9 am to step right into our morning huddle (which starts promptly at 9:03). We like to start off every day together as a team so that we can sync up our priorities, challenges and give each other daily encouragement. With a fresh cup of Blue Donkey coffee at my desk, I am now prepared to take on my day. One of the first things I do before diving into emails and other tasks is checking all my client accounts to check, respond and confirm any customer inquiries or comments on all social media channels. This is one of the most important parts of social media management. It’s easy to get caught up in the beautiful content and captions, but what the actual customers are engaging with is extremely critical. If you’re not responding to your audience, you might as well not be there.

In every week, there are multiple client photoshoots. These are always fun! Most clients are monthly shoots, some weekly and some quarterly. Gathering props, picking a location and models are all tasks leading up to the actual shoot day. Once it’s shooting day, the real fun begins. These usually take about two hours total and then back to the office. There are usually client meetings or phone calls to review strategy or consulting, but at the end of the day it feels like you just got to the office. I’ll typically meet with Emily, graphic design extraordinaire, or Kelsey, our digital media analyst, to discuss client needs here and there as well. We recently took one two new teammates, our fall interns, and they have been killin it. The past week or so we’ve been working together a lot getting training taken care of and collaborating on some client projects. It’s also a major plus to work at Ponce City Market which has the best lunch options you’ve ever seen. At lunchtime, I’ll grab another teammate to run downstairs and get something to eat with me. Sometimes it takes a 5 minute walk to Farm To Ladle to re-energize and get creative juices flowing.

Days fly by and weeks always come to an end before you even notice you were at work. One thing is for sure, this is not your typical desk job! This is what a typical day looks like for me, but ask another Imagineer and you’ll get a completely different response. Come by and check out our office at Industrious (PCM) to see us in action some time.
