Beyond The Textbook: My Internship Experience

I have been an ambassador with Imagine Media Consulting since the end of August (seriously, where has the time gone?) and enjoyed every minute of it. Starting out as a journalism major at Georgia Southern University, I switched to public relations the end of my sophomore year. Making that switch was the best decision and I haven’t looked back since.

Fast forward to July, I applied to Imagine Media Consulting after having a good idea of what they do and stand for since I followed them on Instagram for quite some time. I submitted a video interview along with some writing samples and soon after accepted an Ambassador position. I was ecstatic and couldn’t wait to start.

A typical day for me as an ambassador at Imagine Media Consulting starts out with several warm and friendly “good mornings” and some love from the office dog, Gunnar. I then pull out my computer and get to work. Community management, pulling content, and scheduling are what my days mainly consist of. I also write blogs and assist with photoshoots as needed.

At Imagine Media Consulting I am able to dip my toes into every aspect that the company has to offer. Whether it’s supporting the creative team by helping with, or even modeling, in a photoshoot, shadowing a sales team or account team meeting, or just sitting in on a partner call, I got to experience everything a full-service social media marketing agency had to offer.

As I sit here and write about my experience with Imagine Media Consulting, I can’t help but thank them for everything this internship has taught me and the friends it has brought me along the way. I would absolutely, without a doubt, recommend this internship to anyone looking to start a career in public relations.
