There are loads of articles online telling you how to improve and grow, and while they’re extremely helpful for those learning how to further their brand image and value, if you’re looking for advice on how to launch your brand on social, they may leave you feeling a little lost. In order to successfully #StaySocial, you must first start being social. By this we mean that from the very beginning, building your brand starts with the most fundamental piece of your business: your customers.

Consumers want to interact with brands that speak to them. This may seem like a daunting task, but we’ve broken down how to do it into two elements: share the content that your target customers will love and make sure they see it.

Frankly, your customer doesn’t care about what your company wants or needs. They want to know how you’re going to help them. So, if you are creating content with them in mind, be sure to produce work that adds value to their lives. That’s content they’ll want to share.

Here’s where to start:

  • Define your target audience.

  • Keep up with your competitors to find out what content your target audience is already engaging with.

  • Build customer personas to dive deeper into what your customers desire and how you can address their pain points.

  • Start a 2-way conversation with your ideal customer. Follow them and engage with their content.

#2. Be seen

As a business owner, you already know the importance of knowing your customers. Now that you know what kind of content your audience wants to see, how do you make sure that they actually see it? Don’t worry, we’ve broken it down so you don’t have to wonder:

  • Keep your brand message consistent through each post so that you’re recognizable.

  • Utilize tools like paid advertising to maximize brand awareness by targeting the audience you know who want to reach. You can also use ads to put your content in front of people who you know would benefit from it.

  • Leverage influencers, a heavily trending marketing strategy.
