In millennial workplace culture, it’s becoming more common to see employers offering their employees an education fund. Our generation is one that is motivated by constantly consuming content, and that includes learning. At Imagine Media we offer our teammates an “Enrichment Fund” that’s tiered to how long employees have been with the company. Half of the Enrichment Fund is intended for continued education in a formal setting — seminars, workshops, online classes and so on. The other half of the allotment can be used at the discretion of the Imagineer on an activity or class that the teammate finds emotionally enriching. We encourage our teammates to pursue their creative passions, wellness goals or other activities that they find personally fulfilling.
The benefit of offering an Enrichment Fund is obvious, but it’s particularly relevant in the social media industry. An agency environment is a fast-paced atmosphere that’s constantly updating and transforming right before our eyes. Whether we’re writing copy, hustling at a photoshoot, managing important advertising budgets or engaging with our partners, the world of social media is immersive, exciting and also draining. We’ve discovered the importance of unplugging and recharging in order to be successful in our roles.
In such an absorptive industry, it may seem a little odd that at the end of the day our team is also eager to dive into a classroom setting. One of our promises to our partners is that we’ll stay on top of the latest social media trends, innovations and updates. The social media industry changes almost daily, and by attending workshops, classes or seminars, our team is equipped to serve as thought leaders in our industry. We want to be the first to know if an advertising algorithm shifted, a new app is on the rise or a topic is trending where we can join the conversation on behalf of our partners. Keeping our minds fresh, in turn, leads us to fresh ideas, which makes us better social media marketers at the end of the day.
