It’s important to love what you do, and that is easy to do when your workplace values a strong company culture. Nurturing a company culture that embodies who your company is begins with leadership. Leaders who create a work culture that matches what they envision for the company will, in turn, attract strong candidates and retain existing employees who value culture and who will continue reinforcing it.
My name is Mariana, or Mari for short, and I couldn’t be more excited to be one of three of the new Social Media Interns at Imagine Media! I was born in Brazil, but raised in ATL. I’m a city gal at heart, and though I live an hour away from Atlanta, I always try to make it out to ATL to explore the many diverse boroughs in the city and venture into the coffee shops that I still haven’t discovered.
As I began my journey as an ambassador, I was overwhelmed by all of the new information I was learning. I was engulfed in this new world of social media that I had not seen before. In the forefront, you see Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram with advertisements but there is so much more that goes on behind the scenes. With Monday meetings to partner photoshoots I began taking it all in as fast as I could.
Once I graduated and moved back home to Atlanta, I accepted a position to work as a Social Media Ambassador for Imagine Media. Working for Imagine has been one of the most eye-opening experiences for me so far. Prior to the Ambassador Program, I had zero hands-on experience working for a marketing agency and hardly any experience with marketing tools. However, it has taught me how to work in a variety of marketing platforms that will be useful for my future career. I learned that gaining knowledge and challenging yourself will lead you in the right direction.
I have been an ambassador with Imagine Media Consulting since the end of August (seriously, where has the time gone?) and enjoyed every minute of it. Starting out as a journalism major at Georgia Southern University, I switched to public relations the end of my sophomore year. Making that switch was the best decision and I haven’t looked back since.
Earlier this month the Imagine Media team hosted our eighth Double Tap the Keg event. We invited five panelists to the stage to discuss a trending topic: Company Culture. Our panelists came from a variety of backgrounds and shared a great deal of insight on how to attract and retain employees as well as foster or evolve a company’s culture. The panel included Billy Boughey, Jackie Velez, Nikki Strickland, Ryan Tuttle, and Josh Sweeny. All participants contributed to a great conversation around culture and left the audience feeling inspired. ICYMI, we’ve rounded up some key culture-takeaways from the evening.
